Testimonials

Mike is one of the finest men I know and he does excellent, quick work for your gunsmithing needs at more than fair prices. Mike has the highest integrity & he is meticulous in his work. The most complex work Mike did for me was on a custom CZ that I had purchased that I wanted modified to accept a full length guide rod. This required very precise drilling of the end of the slide in order to allow the slide to cycle with the full guide rod. Mike’s work was perfect & when I sold the gun I ended up getting more than I had in it. Mike is the best!

Just a quick note to say thanks for a good job on my Winchester Model 70. The recoil pad fits perfect and turned out exactly how I had planned. I also appreciate your availability to accept the many firearms I have shipped through your FFL. You are convenient and timely with communication.
— RANDY LLOYD
Mike is very knowledgeable and incredibly thorough when it comes his customers needs...I’ve had many guns & rifles shipped to him over the years, the pick-up process was simple and easy...I recommend him to all my friends for their gunsmith needs.
— BRAD FOSTER
I have been using Mike at GunworxTexas since he started his business and have had nothing but great service. Many times Mike has let me pick up a gun he has received for me after hours due to my work schedule. Mike has done work for me on several guns, it was always first class and done when promised. Its refreshing to deal with someone who truly cares about customer service. I highly recommend Mike to all my friends.
— Dave Scarsella
I have been working with Mike as my go to Federal Firearms Licensee since he received his license several years ago. I can always rely on Mike to provide excellent service when receiving and transferring firearms purchased through the internet. He has a vast knowledge of firearms and the industry. As a gunsmith he can, if you have the need, inspect and test fire any firearm you purchase. Mike will also work with you to find the firearm or firearms you are interested in purchasing. I strongly recommend Mike Johnston as your go to FFL.
— Chuck Pitman
It is my pleasure to recommend Mike Johnston, the gunsmith behind GunWorx Texas. Mike has helped me in many ways ranging from advice to rebuilding a sig pistol that failed at the range one weekend. After its failure I tried to reassemble the pistol myself and could not get it to function, as it should. Mike examined the pistol and during the process of reassembly noticed that a tiny spring had broken and was no longer the correct length. Both of us checked all available parts sources and we could not locate the part needed for the pistol, which is no longer supported by Sig. Mike was able to order the correct diameter spring wire and manufacture one to replace the broken one. The pistol works reliably well and is once again suitable as an EDC weapon. GunWorx Texas has helped me resolve my firearms related issues; you should give them a chance to help you with yours.

I first visited Gun Worx about 4 years ago. Since then I have been back a number of times for work on both my pistols and my rifles. Mike was always very professional and friendly. He’s meticulous in his work and repairs and gives a very quick turn around. I brought my neighbor who is a very active gun collector and modifier. He has referred more of his friends to Gun Worx. We are all extremely pleased and satisfied with the work we’ve had done at Gun Worx.

About

MY NAME IS Mike

I have great enthusiasm for working on firearms, as it gives a huge sense of accomplishment when a job is completed correctly and professionally.

I was in the Fire Service for over 36 years and retired as Fire Chief after 11 years in that position for the City of Colleyville, Texas.
I obtained Gunsmith Certification through the American Gunsmithing Institute. Currently I am working through the Master Level Gunsmithing Course. Their instructional method is excellent combining Design, Function, and Repair techniques so students will understand all different types of firearms and their nuances.

When Mike Johnston told us he had complete the gunsmith course on repairing and maintaining guns, we immediately asked him if he would look at our little pistol. It is a 22 caliber that we had purchased at Montgomery Wards in 1957. We were so sure Mike would laugh and say, “I don’t think I would work on that!” But Mike took our gun, cleaned it, and made sure it was safe and ready to be shot. Mike even made suggestions on how best to store the gun and make sure it was ready if ever needed.

We were so impressed with Mike’s expertise, that we would gladly recommend his gunsmith talent and training to anyone.

I have known Mike for a long time. Knowing he was a gunsmith, I asked him many questions which he was always happy to answer. I have a revolver that the cylinder stopped rotating. I took it to Mike and he worked on it repairing the problem. It still works just fine. Quick and easy.

My Bursa Thunder was not working right and a man at the gun range told me it was just a problem with a spring inside the gun so I went online to try and order the part to no avail. Mike Johnston was recommended to me and I drove over 60 miles to drop off my gun and pick it up. He fixed my gun and I have had no issues with it since. It was well worth the drive.
